On Monday Nov. 3, students and many fans will come together to see an unforgettable experience: the Tame Impala show. As the project of multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker, Tame Impala has redefined the lines between indie rock, psych pop, and electronic music over the past decade. Their concerts are not just performances, they are visuals and crowd energy into something vivid and often even transforming.

“Tame Impala has always been one of my favorite artists and I couldn’t be more excited to see them in concert on Nov. 3. When I found out that they were going on tour I knew I just had to buy the tickets,” said Eva Minginas, a senior.

Tame Impala’s music draws from psychedelic rock but incorporates electronic beats, synths and introspective lyrics. Past albums like “Lonerism” and “Current” established Parker as a monster of atmospheric, mind bending music. Now with the release of their fifth studio album, “Deadbeat”, Tame Impala is taking their sound further.

“One of my favorites albums from Tame Impala is “Currents”, and one of my favorite songs from that album would be “Eventually”. I love this song just because it reminds me of summer,” said Maddie Temple, a senior.

The concert environment promises to be as immersive as the music. Fans can expect lasers, fog, shifting colors, and abstract projections synchronized with each song. Some students said that when they went to see Tame Impala for the first time that the show was “life changing” and that the lights and sounds created such a realistic experience.

“In September of 2021 I saw Tame Impala perform at the United Center downtown and it was amazing. It was such an unforgettable experience and I am so happy that he is coming back to Chicago,” said Sarah Pelinkovic, a junior.

For those attending the Tame Impala concert on Nov. 3, arriving early is key and by the end of the night Tame Impala will have made it through his past hit songs and new amazing music, visuals and energy.
