On January 10, 2026, Soldier Field witnessed a comeback that Bears fans will remember for a lifetime. Facing the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears fell behind 21-3 at halftime, and by the fourth quarter were still trailing 21-6. Many feared the season was over, but what happened next stunned the NFL.
By the time Bears quarterback Caleb Williams hit DJ Moore with a go-ahead touchdown with just one minute and 43 seconds left in the game, the defense sealed the game, stopping the Packers on the final drive. History had been made. It wasn’t just a win, it was a declaration that this Bears team was different. They had a comeback season and were deemed the group that didn’t quit no matter what.
At home that night, die hard Bears fans were on an emotional rollercoaster.
“I wish I would have got tickets to the game. I’ve always and will forever be a Bears fan,” said Jack DiMatteo, a social studies teacher. “At halftime I was sure it was over but I still had hope. And when that final touchdown happened I was screaming. I’d never been so shocked in my whole life.”
Fans in the stadium shared that same energy firsthand.
“Being able to go to Soldier Field and experience that final touchdown with my family was amazing, even though it was freezing,” said Hannah Moulton, math teacher. “We all thought that they were going to lose but were completely shocked.”
Not everyone was super thrilled about the Bears’ winning touchdown though.
“My whole family has supported Green Bay since I was a kid. Watching them lose like this was not an amazing feeling,” said Tegan Steines, senior. “But, of course it was funny seeing all of my friends’ reactions to the Bears winning. Even though I didn’t want the Bears to win, it was such a fun game to watch at home.”
However, that hope was temporary; on January 18, 2026 the Bears faced the LA Rams in the second playoff game. In a hard matchup, Chicago fell short, ending their playoff run in overtime 20-17, but reminded fans that comebacks are possible. However, the Bears versus Packers game will be remembered as a symbol of the team’s determination and potential for future seasons.
